PSG lead the 2026-27 Champions League winner market at 6.00 after securing back-to-back European titles. Arsenal and Bayern Munich are their closest challengers at 7.50, while Barcelona, Manchester City and Real Madrid form the next group at 8.00.
The qualifying rounds are already under way after many of the world’s leading players reached peak form at this summer’s World Cup. The league phase begins on Tuesday, September 8, with the draw scheduled for Thursday, August 27, but the early outright market is already taking shape.

Prices and opinions may shift after the league-phase draw and further summer transfer activity. For now, the market gives PSG a narrow advantage over Arsenal and Bayern, with several major clubs close enough to challenge.
PSG remain the team to beat
PSG’s victory over Arsenal in last season’s final was less emphatic than their 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan 12 months earlier. Even so, winning a second consecutive Champions League title in May was another exceptional achievement.
They became the first club to retain the trophy since Real Madrid completed three straight wins between 2016 and 2018. That places Luis Enrique’s side among the outstanding teams of the modern European era.
PSG again timed their best football well. They eased past Chelsea and Liverpool in the knockout rounds, held off Bayern Munich in the semi-finals and then defeated a resolute Arsenal on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the final.
Their domestic schedule can be less demanding than those faced by several leading European rivals, although Lens pushed them closely during the 2025-26 league campaign. PSG may also benefit from Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Joao Neves and Marquinhos not progressing particularly far at the World Cup.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had the full summer off because Georgia failed to qualify. That gives one of PSG’s most important attacking players a useful physical advantage before the new European campaign.
Recruitment was limited by their usual standards last summer, yet PSG still defended the title with largely the same group. More activity appears necessary in the coming weeks, particularly after back-up striker Goncalo Ramos left for Milan.
There are questions around depth, but the core remains proven at the highest level. PSG are the standout team in the market, and 6.00 looks a reasonable price for a side chasing a historic hat-trick.
Arsenal face the final step
Arsenal reached the quarter-finals in 2023-24, the semi-finals in 2024-25 and the final last season. The natural question is whether Mikel Arteta’s side can extend that progression and win the competition for the first time.
Football does not always follow a clean upward curve, but Arsenal could hardly have gone closer last term. They held PSG to a 1-1 draw in the final before losing the trophy on penalties.
Arteta’s attritional and defensively secure approach appears suited to knockout football. However, Arsenal scored only three goals across their four quarter-final and semi-final matches, which raises doubts over whether that method can carry them through another full campaign.
The draw also worked in their favour. Arsenal faced Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting Lisbon and Atletico Madrid before meeting PSG, and they may not receive such a manageable route again.
Summer recruitment could change their attacking ceiling. Signing a leading forward such as Julian Alvarez would give them another source of quality in decisive matches and strengthen an area that looked limited during the later knockout rounds.
Arsenal have enough control and resilience to make another deep run. At 7.50, though, they are shorter than several established European contenders, so their current position looks difficult to support before the transfer window and draw are complete.

Bayern Munich offer the strongest early case
Bayern Munich stand out at 7.50 despite sitting only narrowly behind PSG in the outright market. They lost last season’s semi-final to the holders by a single goal on aggregate, going down 6-5 across two matches.
That defeat followed two commanding knockout performances. Bayern swept aside Real Madrid in the quarter-finals and beat Atalanta 10-2 on aggregate in the round of 16.
Only Arsenal finished above Vincent Kompany’s team during the league phase. Bayern were among the most consistent sides in Europe, and their results across the competition support their position near the head of the market.
Harry Kane may struggle to reproduce his extraordinary scoring figures from 2025-26, but he remains an immense threat. Jamal Musiala, Luis Diaz, Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry and new signing Ismael Saibari give Bayern an excellent group of attacking options around him.
Nathaniel Brown has also arrived to strengthen the defence. Dayot Upamecano, meanwhile, produced an encouraging World Cup and should return with his reputation enhanced.
The squad contains proven stars, while Kompany has shown himself to be a capable and progressive manager. Bayern remain one of Europe’s strongest teams, and 7.50 makes plenty of appeal at this early stage.
Barcelona need further transfer progress
Barcelona’s prospects may depend heavily on their remaining summer business. The foundation is strong, but the squad still looks incomplete in several important areas.
Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal return after winning the World Cup with Spain. That group gives Barcelona a high-level core capable of competing against any side in the tournament.
Robert Lewandowski’s departure was probably the correct long-term decision, but it has left Hansi Flick short of attacking personnel. Anthony Gordon has joined from Newcastle United, although his arrival alone may not fully replace the goals and presence lost through Lewandowski’s exit.
Julian Alvarez has also been linked with a move to Catalonia. A deal of that scale would make Barcelona’s 8.00 price easier to support and would add another elite option to an already talented team.
There is also a structural concern. Flick’s defensive high line can leave Barcelona exposed in major matches, particularly against opponents with the speed and quality to attack the space behind it.
Barcelona remain an intriguing contender at 8.00. Their price has potential, but it would look more convincing after another significant attacking addition.
Manchester City enter a period of change
Pep Guardiola won the Champions League only once during his decade as Manchester City manager. That record illustrates the difficulty of the competition, and Enzo Maresca now faces the challenge of delivering European success in his first season.
Maresca won the Conference League with Chelsea in 2024-25. His Champions League campaign last season was less impressive, with defeats against Bayern Munich and Atalanta alongside a frustrating draw with Qarabag.
He should inherit a more settled squad at City, but the club is still moving through a transitional period. It remains unclear whether this version of the team has enough stability to win Europe’s leading competition immediately.
Elliot Anderson is a solid addition, although the fee was substantial. City also won the FA Cup and EFL Cup last season, but the extent of Guardiola’s influence on those successes is still difficult to separate from the quality of the squad itself.
Their European results were less persuasive. City lost to Bayer Leverkusen and Bodo/Glimt during the league phase before Real Madrid beat them in both legs of the round of 16.
Maresca has talent at his disposal, but 8.00 asks the market to overlook a difficult recent European campaign and a major managerial change. That price sits on the short side.
Real Madrid have renewed appeal under Mourinho
Real Madrid look the most attractive of the three teams available at 8.00. PSG and Bayern may have stronger recent European records, while Arsenal’s defensive qualities should keep them competitive, but Real possess their own powerful case.
Jose Mourinho has returned to the Bernabeu, bringing another period of expectation and inevitable drama. He did not win the Champions League during his first spell with Real, although he lifted the trophy with Porto and Inter Milan earlier in his career.
Mourinho inherits a squad filled with elite players. Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe were two of the leading performers at the summer World Cup, reinforcing their importance to Real’s European challenge.
Several other players should return relatively fresh. Trent Alexander-Arnold did not feature at the tournament, while Arda Guler and Federico Valverde avoided especially demanding campaigns.
Real have also added experience and depth. Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella and Ibrahima Konate have joined during a smart summer of recruitment.
The Bernabeu remains one of the most difficult away grounds in European football. With Mourinho managing a deeper and highly experienced squad, Real Madrid have a credible route to the latter stages and look worth keeping on the shortlist at 8.00.
Liverpool begin a new cycle
Liverpool are available at 11.00 after appointing Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth. The managerial change creates interest, but it also places the club firmly in a transitional phase.
Their summer recruitment has focused on younger players such as Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz. Those signings may support the club’s longer-term direction, although they do not immediately make Liverpool a complete Champions League contender.
Several experienced figures have departed. Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate are no longer at Anfield, leaving Iraola to reshape both the leadership structure and the balance of the squad.
Liverpool still have plenty of quality, but the new group may require time. The 11.00 price reflects their potential more than a finished European project.

Manchester United must manage a heavier schedule
Manchester United will welcome their return to the Champions League. European nights restore status and opportunity, but they also bring a workload the club must learn to manage again.
United will have to balance continental fixtures with the demands of the Premier League. That adjustment can be difficult, particularly for a side without recent experience of maintaining a serious campaign on both fronts.
Their 17.00 price gives them a 5.9% implied chance of winning the tournament. That does not offer much margin for the uncertainty attached to their return, so United appear easy to overlook at the current quote.
Inter Milan bring outsider potential
Inter Milan underperformed in Europe last season, but their domestic campaign remained highly successful. They won both Serie A and the Coppa Italia during Cristian Chivu’s first year in charge.
That double shows Inter still possess the quality and consistency required to compete over a long season. Their Champions League record also carries weight, as they reached the final as recently as 2024-25.
At 29.00, Inter sit well behind the leading contenders. Their recent domestic success and previous run to the European final make them one of the more interesting outsiders in the market, with the price offering each-way appeal.
