Brighton vs Aston Villa takes place on Sunday 23 August 2026 at 16:00 GMT+3 at The Amex Stadium in the Premier League.
Aston Villa have enough in their recent attacking record to trouble Brighton after the Seagulls’ demanding Conference League trip to Norway, and the visitors should push for a positive result on the south coast.

Brighton vs Aston Villa Predictions
Brighton’s Arctic trip may favour Villa
Brighton were in Conference League action at Tromso on Thursday, with the match inside the Arctic Circle ending 0-0. Sunday therefore arrives after an unusually demanding European away trip for Fabian Hurzeler’s side.
Their closing league results from last season also leave questions. Brighton lost three of their final four Premier League matches, with the only victory in that spell coming against already-relegated Wolves.
Aston Villa have had problems of their own over the summer. Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa have departed after the club’s Europa League triumph, while injuries have added to Unai Emery’s difficulties.
Even so, Villa produced enough in their 2-1 UEFA Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain to deserve respect. They won the shot count against the Champions League winners and had already scored 15 times in their final five matches of last season.
Brighton have also won only one of their last 11 meetings with Villa. With the draw providing protection against some of the visitors’ summer uncertainty, I’m backing Aston Villa Draw No Bet at 2.20.

Villa’s scoring run makes 2-1 appealing
Every one of Aston Villa’s last seven matches has produced at least three goals. Their 2-1 UEFA Super Cup loss to Paris Saint-Germain continued that sequence and again delivered the three-goal score shape required here.
Villa’s late-season attacking numbers were also strong. They scored 15 goals across their final five games of the previous campaign, giving the visitors a sustained run of productive results rather than a single isolated performance.
The Amex has produced similar numbers. At least three goals were scored in five of Brighton’s last six league matches at the stadium.
There is also a clear result case behind the scoreline. Brighton lost three of their final four league games last season and have beaten Villa only once in the last 11 meetings between the sides.
With Villa’s last seven games all clearing the three-goal mark, Aston Villa 2-1 could be worth a look at 12.00.

Buendia has the scoring form to step forward
Emiliano Buendia is a prominent option for Villa with uncertainty over who will lead the line. Ollie Watkins is short of match fitness, while teenager Brian Madjo is expected to miss out through injury.
Buendia is set to operate behind whichever player Unai Emery uses at the top of the pitch. That role keeps him close to the attacking positions where his recent scoring record has already been productive.
The Argentinian scored in three of his final four Europa League appearances during Villa’s successful campaign last season. He has also been on target in pre-season.
Three goals across those last four Europa League games provide the strongest personal evidence, and Emiliano Buendia To Score Anytime is very appealing at 4.60.
