FC Porto welcome Manchester City to Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, for a Champions League meeting at 22:00 GMT+3.
Porto have conceded only once across five league games, but City should make the hosts work far harder to protect that defensive record.

FC Porto vs Manchester City Predictions
Manchester City have steadied quickly under Maresca
Manchester City have won all three of their Premier League matches this season. The run followed a difficult Community Shield afternoon against Arsenal in Cardiff.
Their defensive results have improved as well. City held Bournemouth to 0.65 xG in a 2-1 opening win, while Crystal Palace needed an incredible free-kick to score in a 4-1 defeat. Saturday then brought Maresca's first shutout as City beat Coventry 1-0.
Porto are back in the Champions League for the first time since 2023/24. They have conceded only once across their opening five league games, although those matches have brought 4.6 xG against them. Stronger opposition gives that record a much sterner test.
Maresca also has European success behind him. He won the Conference League with Chelsea before overseeing Champions League victories against Benfica, Ajax and Barcelona last season.
That Chelsea side was plagued by inexperience, while City have an experienced core. Gianluigi Donnarumma and Erling Haaland provide established quality at either end, and Haaland scored eight goals in 10 European appearances last season. City's new-look midfield is also expected to fare well against Porto.
City have won three of their four meetings with Porto, and I’m backing Manchester City to win at 1.75.

Manchester City could edge another 1-0
Manchester City's previous two visits to Porto ended in a 2-1 victory and a 0-0 draw. Across all four meetings, City have recorded three wins.
Porto's domestic defensive numbers point to another game in which the margin may stay narrow. They have allowed only one league goal in five matches, even though the 4.6 xG they have faced leaves that record open to a tougher examination.
City have also reduced the quality of chances allowed in recent games. Bournemouth were restricted to 0.65 xG in the 2-1 defeat, while Palace scored their only goal in a 4-1 loss from an exceptional free-kick.
Porto still look short of City's quality, and Saturday supplied a particularly relevant scoreline. City were 1-0 winners against Coventry for their first shutout under Maresca, and Manchester City 1-0 could be worth a look at 8.50.
