Everton vs Chelsea Predictions
Everton can expose Chelsea’s away troubles
Everton’s eight-match unbeaten start spans the Premier League and EFL Cup, with only Manchester City and Brentford also unbeaten in the league. Moyes’s side have replaced the familiar boos at Hill Dickinson Stadium with growing optimism.
Their fifth place is deserved, unlike the lofty positions of some previous Moyes teams. Understat’s expected-points table also ranks them fifth, while their ten points leave them level with Chelsea.
Chelsea beat a talented Bournemouth side 5-1 after the international break, but that was their only win in four league games. Their previous away outing ended in a 3-0 defeat at Brentford.
The Blues have lost six of their last eight away matches, with their only victory a narrow 3-2 success at struggling Fulham. Chelsea’s repeated failures on their travels make Everton difficult to oppose, so I’m backing Everton double chance at 1.70.
Chelsea offer a tougher test than Everton’s previous opponents, although the Toffees beat them 3-0 here in March under Liam Rosenior. Alonso represents an upgrade, but Moyes’s West Ham outplayed his Bundesliga-winning Bayer Leverkusen in a 1-1 Europa League draw despite contentious refereeing decisions.
Chelsea’s attacking approach has produced 28 goals across six league matches. Everton’s low block and measured style could deliver a calmer contest, with a 2-1 home win the preferred scoreline.

Barry’s scoring form demands attention
Thierno Barry has answered Everton’s decision against signing another striker over the summer. The responsibility has remained with their existing forwards, and he has made a persuasive case for that faith.
Barry has scored six times in eight appearances this term. His production has given Everton a regular source of goals without the summer addition that might otherwise have competed for that role.
Three of his goals have come in the Premier League, and a fourth league strike is the target on Saturday. His domestic scoring record gives the anytime-scorer choice substance beyond his wider tally.
Chelsea have conceded 14 goals in six league games, offering little defensive reassurance at this price. Beto scored twice against them last season, when the Blues struggled with the powerful Everton forward. Barry has similar attributes, although his own scoring form remains the stronger reason to favour him here.
Barry to score anytime appeals at 3.10 after six goals in eight appearances this season.
